Bruce McGuire sources 100% of the fruit for our Petite Sirah from Thompson Vineyard. Thompson Vineyard is dedicated to growing cool climate Rhone varietals. It is not Syrah, and there is nothing "petite" about it in terms of grape size or flavor. Located in the Alisos Canyon corridor, the fruit from this vineyard gains complexity from its well drained soil, and an average temperature of under 60 degrees.
Winemaker Comments: 2015 was a very small crop with small clusters and very light, open canopy. The already dense Petite Sirah is even more saturated and opaque. Enjoy now with decanting or cellar for the next 10-15 years.
Tasting Notes: The 2015 Petite Sirah is dark garnet in color with well-developed aromas of blueberries, black pepper, and camphor. This wine has rich flavors of blackberry compote, dried lavender, and mild tobacco. Full-bodied with a lingering finish, this wine pairs well with burgers, BBQ beef, and casseroles.
