Sustainability in Practice Certified Wine
Our Grenache is sourced 100% from the Lafond Vineyard in the heart of Sta. Rita Hills. Grenache grown in these cooler climates gains a boost in their peppery notes compared to the same grapes grown further up the valley (where it is warmer). Lafond Vineyard dedicates most of its space for Pinot Noir, but has selected a beautiful section just North of the Santa Ynez River for its production of Grenache.
Winemaker's Comments: Our Grenache was planted in 2002 from a Tablas Creek Selection from Ch. Beaucastel in Chateauneuf Du-Pape. With vine age, the wines have moved from simple fruit to much more density and depth of flavor.
Tasting Notes: The 2016 Grenache is brilliant ruby with red clay undertones. This wine has open aromas of dried red berries, eucalyptus, and mild leather. Ripe flavors of strawberry and raspberry jam, followed by herbal notes of dried oregano complete the palate. This medium-bodied red pairs great with chicken, pork, and roasted vegetables.
